A true friend and close brother, Kerry Turman, died Saturday, April 22 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was 59. Kerry was the bass player for The Temptations rhythm and blues group. The group had been performing on tour with the Beach Boys for the Surf and Soul Tour. Beach Boys co-founder Mike Love said in a Facebook post, “KT was a gentle giant with incredible talent. He played bass on songs that will forever be part of our American songbook for the last 33 years. He was always so kind and jovial. …His smile and spirit will be missed.” Kerry and Dragon worked “on the road” together for The Temptations through the eighties and early nineties. Both Detroit natives, Kerry and Dragon, stayed in close personal touch after Dragon left his bodyguard position to teach martial arts full-time in Oak Park.
“O come, angel band, come, and around me stand,
O bear me away on your snowy wings
To my immortal home.”
