Oak Park Honoree

Grandmaster Robb “Dragon” Hogan, who is a 10th degree black belt and bodyguard, was honored via Proclamation by the City of Oak Park at their October 19, 2015 City Council meeting for 35 years of service to the Oak Park community through instruction at the Community Center. After training under various instructors and several methods, Grandmaster Hogan earned numerous levels of achievements and skill levels. He eventually developed his own form of martial arts and self-defense training that he dubbed the “Dragon’s Eight” which incorporates the eight guiding principles of awareness, humility, repetition, honesty, understanding, reality, proficiency and sensitivity. To date, he promoted over 150 black belts. A few of his many career accomplishment include being inducted into the Michigan Karate Hall of Fame in 1992 and being rated as one of the top 10 karate practitioners in Michigan by Professional Karate Magazine. The City of Oak Park said  “It is an honor, to have his talents and influence within our community.”  They went on to congratulate Grandmaster Hogan, his instructors and students on “all their hard-earned achievements. What an accomplishment, and quite an honor.”
